Founded in 1996, PHYTEC America started offering OEM-able System on Module subassemblies along with CAN products made in Germany to customers in North America. In order to expand its product portfolio as well as allow for prompt and expert technical support Rene Hackl, an engineer working at PHYTEC Germany was asked to join the new company during its start-up phase. In 1999 Rene moved to Bainbridge Island, WA and has since made this place his home. Through hard work and a commitment to providing excellent service to an expanding customer base, sales of CAN products have experienced a rapid growth during the past decade. In 2012 PHYTEC started the process of spinning off its CAN products business unit into its own profit center and this transition was completed with the start of 2013 by establishing Phytools, a PHYTEC America subsidiary.
